We're Getting (and Facebooking) the Word Out About Co-ops at Greentopia 2013
What does Abundance mean to you? to Rochester? What is a co-op?
These are questions we'll be asking and answering at the 3rd Greetopia Ecofest this weekend at High Falls in downtown Rochester. With a contest and plenty of information about Abundance, we're hoping to really get the conversation going about how amazing co-ops are for communities, ecologies, and our bellies.
Photo booth Facebook contest
We want to know what we mean to people here in Rochester.
To do that, Abundance will be running a photo booth contest on Facebook this year. Contestants will have their picture taken beneath a sign that reads "Abundance is good for..." and they will finish the sentence with their own word. To our current owners and shoppers, it might be something they love about the food they can get here or the values we share. For new friends, it will be a fun way to learn about cooperatives and how they benefit local communities and sustainable food systems.
The pictures will be posted to our Facebook page over the weekend. Everyone will receive a $5 off a $25 purchase coupon, plus be entered into a raffle to win a $25 gift card. Whichever word gets the most likes on our wall will also win a $25 gift card to use at the co-op.
Educate the public about co-ops
We hope to spread the word about all the benefits of cooperatives at our booth at Greentopia this year. At a time when mainstream businesses now offer a wide range of organic, local, and healthy foods, we want to stress what makes Abundance so unique as a cooperative food market.
We'll have the Rochdale Principles proudly displayed, plus we'll have plenty of information about cooperatives, our new education series "Abundantly Clear," and materials to promote the Non GMO Project.
Our booth will also host two amazing demonstrations of products we sell in store.
On Saturday, September 14, 2013, Once Again Nut Butters--our local vendor who supplies us with our wonderful bulk nut butters--will be showing of their wares from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The next day at 2:00 pm, co-op shopper and homemade cosmetics maker Laura Whitebell will be sharing a few of her favorite recipes using simple products she's found on our shelves.
We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please email us.
